PO1 Explore, create and experience western theatre through academic and praxis to develop a holistic theatre professional. To give an overview of literature from aesthetic, linguistic, socio-political and cultural contexts. Familiarize students with the discipline of psychology, give them the necessary exposure to develop interest in these disciplines.
PO2 Use plays as a resource material about the time, space, weight and flow of people. Understanding the mentality of human archetypes using exercises specific to theatre.
PO3 Increase kinaesthetic discipline using accurate posture, delivery and stage presence. Use psychology to formulate thoughts in a meaningful yet attention-drawing fashion. Making oneself truly humble, knowledgeable and easy to approach by prompting and accepting feedback from the audience.

The most important objective of the programme is to train the learners in different aspects of the theatre such as script, acting, direction and stage craft. At the end of the programme the learners should be able to put up independent productions and use theatre in various applied contexts.

English Studies
Literature is an important cultural product of a society or a nation. Hence, the study of literature offers insights into the worldviews of different societies. This course begins with traditional British literature to the present. The course also introduces students to other literatures namely American world, postcolonial and also the Indian literature in translation. The course also introduces students to interdisciplinary studies in culture and gender helping them to gain insights from other disciplines like history, anthropology, sociology etc.

Psychology
The psychology subject seeks to introduce the students to various psychological processes and familiarize them with different branches of psychology with a view to developing a holistic outlook towards life and prepare them for a great career ahead.

Candidates falling under any of the below mentioned categories must apply under the International Student Category:

  1. Foreign citizens,   
  2. PIO card holders and   
  3. OCI (Dual Citizens)

International students coming from Non-English speaking countries should:

  • produce evidence of passing the qualifying examination in English medium or   
  • have IELTS 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5 or TOEFL (paper) 550, TOEFL (computer) of 213 or TOEFL (IBT) of 79 scores

Candidates without the above pre-qualifications will have to enroll either for

  • Intensive Certificate course in English Language (Full Time) conducted from March to May each year or   
  • One Semester Certificate course in English Language (Part Time) conducted after regular class hours from June to December.

Note: The International Student category fee structure is binding for the full duration of the programme and cannot be transferred /changed in between.

Candidates from the above listed categories having pursued Indian Educational qualification and who may have applied under the Indian States Category will have to pay the International Student Category Fee. The decision of the Admission committee is final.

Candidates seeking admission through International Student category (Foreign Nationals/PIO/OCI) will have a separate application process, with the following options to apply for any programme at Christ University.

Students are welcome to apply under the Non Resident Indian category for the programmes offered by the University

Students who fall under any of the following classifications can apply under NRI Student category and be liable to pay the fees applicable to the category for the entire duration of the programme

1. NRI defined under the Indian Income Tax Law

2. Either of the parents is outside India (except Nepal) on Work Permit / Resident Permit.

3. Indian citizen financed by any Institution / agency outside India, even if parents are Residents of India.

4. Indian Citizen who has pursued studies for qualifying examination in any foreign / Indian syllabus outside India..

5. NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the programme for candidates who;
   5.1. Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
   5.2. Are NRI and candidates who have applied under NRI category

 

Admission to all programmes is based on academic achievement and CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Selection Process. Candidates should submit the final results of class 12 on or before August 30th of the admission year.

Applicants must read through the Selection process, Fee Structure and other details under the preferred programme given on our website before proceeding with the application process.

  • Eligibility for the programme is a pass at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) in any stream (Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce & Management, Sciences) from any recognised Board in India.
  • Candidates writing the +2 examinations in March-May 2022 may apply with their class X and XI marks.

Students pursuing International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations:

  • Applicants pursuing IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits.
  • Applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels and a grade not less than C.

# The fee for Karnataka domicile students, as indicated in the table, is the actual fee payable and excludes the scholarship amount.
 
It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for three years, there may be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs.
 
1. NRI fee is applicable for the first year for candidates who have studied foreign syllabus (has to be approved by UGC / AIU) in the qualifying examination of study in India. (The above condition is not applicable to NRI and candidates applied under NRI Category).
 
2. NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the Programme for candidates who;
    2.1. Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
    2.2. Are NRI and candidates who have applied under the NRI category.
 
3. To claim the Indian / Karnataka category fee, the candidates should have studied last 7 years in India / Karnataka. (Not applicable for OCI, PIO and Foreign Nationals).
 
4. Admission registration fee of INR 5000/- is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of admission. This fee will be apart from cancellation charges if applicable.
 
5. All Candidates If “Selected” after appearing for the final selection process, the fee may be paid through the following option:
  • Payment can be made through Net banking / NEFT / RTGS
  • Payment / Transfer of fees does not guarantee admission.

Audition

Candidates must prepare a monologue in English using the script from any published play. It should be a video recorded (2-3 Minutes) and sent to head.theatrestudies@christuniversity.in. FIVE days before the Interview. The candidates can perform the same during the admission interview if the panel asks for it as part of spot improvisation.

* The candidate should have an appreciation in Western Theatre.

Scanned copies of the class 10, class 11/12 marks card should be uploaded while filling the application.

* If class 12 marks are not available at the time of applying, then marks of any test conducted during class 11 can be uploaded.

  The office of admissions will verify the scorecards.

* Applications with no scorecards or not clear scanned copies will be rejected and termed as Not Eligible

The selection process E-Admit card will be generated 3 days prior to the scheduled selection process date.

Please note that the preferred date for selection process will be allotted, subject to availability of slots.

Candidates failing to appear for the selection process at the stipulated date, time and venue will be considered as “Not Selected”.

Request for change in selection process dates, time and centre will not be entertained.

Candidates must report for the selection process on the allotted date and at least 30 minutes prior to the time stipulated in the selection process admit card along with a valid identity (ID) proof (Driving License/Passport/Electoral ID/Aadhar Card) in original, without which the candidates will not be permitted to appear for the selection process.

The candidates are requested to start early to avoid traffic congestions.

No TA/DA or any accommodation facility will be admissible for appearing for the selection process at CHRIST (Deemed to be University).

Cellular phones, satellite phone, scientific calculators, calculators etc., are not allowed into the selection process venue.

Candidates have to access their selection process admit card from the link “Application Status" from the University website and print the same.

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) will not be held responsible for any inadvertent error that may have crept in the online submission of application or selection processes admit card/results being published.

The candidate will have to appear for the selection process on the allotted date, time and venue mentioned on the selection process admit card with the following original documents and a set of photocopy:

  1. The selection process admit card (Mandatory).
  2. Copy of the filled-in printed application form duly signed by the parent/guardian and the candidate (Mandatory).
  3. One copy of the online payment acknowledgement slip / direct mode Application receipt (Mandatory).
  4. Statement of marks of class 10 & 11/12 (Mandatory).
  5. A valid Photo ID (Driving License/ Passport / Electoral ID / Aadhaar Card) (Mandatory).
  6. Copy of transfer certificate from last qualified Institution (If available during the selection process).
  7. Copy of Migration Certificate is Mandatory for all candidates other than Karnataka PU Board, from the previous Institute / University (If available during the selection process)
  8. Candidates falling under any of these categories (NRI / PIO / OCI / SAARC / AFRICA / ASEAN / OTHER FOREIGN NATIONALS / NRI SPONSORED CATEGORY) have to submit:
  • Copy of Passport and Visa Details (Mandatory).
  • Candidates applying under PIO or OCI have to produce the copy of PIO or OCI card whichever is applicable (Mandatory).
  • Candidates applying under NRI sponsored category must submit sponsor willingness letter (Mandatory).

The duration of the Entrance Test will be for 120 minutes.

Each Correct Answer carries 1 mark and each Wrong Answer carries -0.25
